Colorado Referendum Targeting Migrants
Most referendums cover just one issue, and a narrow aspect of that issue, so our Peace and Life Referendums project website lists a diversity of such measures that are on the ballot, or have good potential to be, in different states and localities.
We finally have a referendum which, while narrowly focused as usual, manages to be covered under four of our issues. Colorado has Measure 95, to require that people charged with (not convicted of) violent crimes but are undocumented – or who don’t have the papers with them to show they aren’t – will be turned over to ICE. This would overturn the state legislature’s law against federal overreach.
The page explains how this policy could harm unborn children directly and add to pressures for abortion indirectly. Also, the policy is racist and adds not only to poverty impacts but to the damage of war since so many migrants are fleeing war zones.
Legislation – Passed the House, Time to Contact Senators

Our member group Democrats for Life is promoting legislation which ought to be appealing to all sides on abortion: be sure pregnant students have information they need.
This passed the U.S. House of Representatives on January 22, 2026. Unfortunately, it got all the Republican votes but only one Democrat, the one Democrat known for a pro-life position.
So polarized has this issue become that people who proclaim themselves in favor of “choice” nevertheless voted against a bill ensuring women have information to make choices with.
Our U.S. readers can contact their Senators.

Consistent Life Action Foundation, CLN's funding resource for defenders of life, is awarding a series of mini-grants ($300-$600) and would appreciate recommendations for organizations in need of awards supporting the following efforts:
war-related issues, or
rural health services such as a mobile health clinic, especially those related to COVID.
Projects should be directly involved in preventing violence or saving lives, rather than education/advocacy. Contact us at claf@consistent-life.org.

Having noticed that some make the argument that abortion is justified on the grounds that the fetus is dependent on the pregnant women, Jim Hewes points out that this dependency actually makes the mother more responsible for the baby, not less:
The Oscars award ceremony happened last Sunday. Rachel MacNair saw the five short documentaries in a theater all in one set, and four of them are quite worthwhile for consistent lifers:

Right now, the world feels like it’s burning. In Ukraine, Sudan, Gaza, and with the escalating conflict involving Iran following recent U.S. and Israeli strikes and Iran’s retaliatory attacks, violence is erupting across the globe . . .
Being pro-life means standing for every innocent life, not just those in the womb. It means grieving for families hiding in basements, for children growing up under the sound of gunfire, and for refugees walking miles with no home to return to.
If we say we’re pro-life, then we have to mean it, even when life is being taken by airstrikes instead of abortion.
