No Nukes Webinar

A recording of the January 27 webinar "Building a World Without Nuclear Weapons: An Urgent Imperative," presented by our member group Pax Christi USA, is available for public viewing on YouTube. The webinar offered a range of religious and secular reasons for ridding the world of these horrific weapons.

Marie Dennis, former president of Pax Christi International and a CLN endorser, intersected philosophy with peace principles, and it was also mentioned that her experience as a mother has shaped her peace activism.

Dr. Ira Helfand of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons gave a chilling scientific account of the likely effects of a nuclear blast with today's weapons.

Archbishop John Wester of Santa Fe talked about how his pro-life work led him into advocacy against nuclear weapons and how this is a pastoral issue for him in New Mexico.

Letter to the Editor

From Bob Graf:

"What is happening in Palestine is not war but genocide. When one side has planes, tanks, large standing armies, ships and directs killing, starvation, and lack of water and medical supplies, bombing schools and hospitals it is called genocide."

Here are just some numbers as of last Sunday:

"According to WHO Since the 7th of October the Israeli army killed 26,901 Palestinians in addition to 7780 others missing and injured 65,949. No less than 11,000 children were killed in the Israeli bombardment.

  • 1.7 million Palestinians were displaced several times.

  • 23 out of 36 hospitals were destroyed and stopped working .

  • 64 out of 77 primary healthcare centers were destroyed.

Hundreds of thousands are suffering from epidemics.

  • 245,858 suffer from respiratory diseases

  • 161,285 suffer from Diarrhea including 85,410 children.

  • 70,000 suffer from scabies

  • 44,550 from other skin diseases.

  • 7,787 have jaundice many due to hepatitis.

  • Of the 65,949 injured only 790 were allowed to travel for treatment abroad.

  • 133 ambulances were completely destroyed or damaged by Israeli bombardment.

  • More than 300 health professionals were killed and 61 were kidnapped by the Israeli army.

Here is a nonviolent effort to do something about it:

"This kind can come forth by nothing but prayer and fasting" (Mark 9:29)

Our Latest Blog Post

As could be predicted, abortion advocates and their supporters in the mainstream media select one of their strongest arguments to focus on, what’s commonly called the life of the mother exception. Yet there’s a danger lurking there when deception is used by people who know the life of the mother isn’t actually at risk. Sarah Terzo covers this in Creating a Loophole on the Life of the Mother Exception.

I totally believe in this cause every bit as much as I did believe every morning when I got up in the military that I was doing the right thing.
