Thanksgiving Coming Up

November is Native American Heritage Month, and in 2009 the U.S. Congress passed a resolution to make the day after Thanksgiving Native American Heritage Day.
Let Us Give Thanks

Well over 40 Planned Parenthood U.S. locations closed in 2025!
We say “locations” because sometimes PP labels two “centers” at the same location. This includes the 7 Melody clinics for primary care in southern California that are set to close December 13, though their abortion-committing centers at the same location will still run. So if you count it as PP-defined centers, by the end of the year it will be over 50 closed.
While many of them weren’t doing abortions themselves, all of them were abortion promoters.
You can keep up with a running tab of closures since 2020 here.

A global majority, 74 nations, have ratified the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons!
It had enough ratifying nations to go into effect on January 22, 2021. While the nations that actually have such weapons are ignoring it, this is a prime organizing tool to build momentum for stigmatizing and eliminating them.
There are 12,405 official governmental nuclear weapons world-wide now. This would be depressingly high, except that it’s a substantial drop from the 44,000+ held by the U.S. and Soviet Union in the 1980s.

We can also be grateful that some forms of killing are so rare that we never felt a need to include them in our mission statement for what we oppose, including duels, gladiator games, burning of “witches” and “heretics,” or ceremonial human sacrifice.
Remember Consistent Life on Giving Tuesday!
Giving Tuesday will be December 2 this year. Please consider donating to the Consistent Life Network. Your support allows us to continue our work, and we appreciate whatever you can give.
January 22: Day of Horror and Hope
In 1973, it was the horror of the Roe v. Wade decision, from which we’re still recuperating – but it’s been overturned, so there’s hope.
In 2021, it was the hope that the United Nations Treaty on the Prevention of Nuclear Weapons officially went into effect as enough nations had ratified it – and the horror inflicted by past use of nuclear weapons and even larger-scale horrors possible if they're used again.

This is a prime opportunity for consistent lifers. In 2026 we’re taking full advantage of it. CLN is a major part of the planning committee. See the website:
It will be a day of local actions – various ways of demonstrating and/or educating. So put the local actions of your local groups on the map!
It includes an impressive list of supporters. We’re still looking for more organizational supporters; see details on the website.

Jim Hewes has noticed a lot of discussion of whether the preborn baby can survive outside the womb as having some relevance to the abortion debate. He explains instead how The Concept of Viability Is Not Really Viable.
Quote of the Week
David French
The New York Times, November 16, 2025
Each of the pope’s statements is part of a consistent ethic of life . . .
In this formulation, the fundamental moral basis of the pro-life movement is the idea that every single human being is created in the image of God and thus should be treated with dignity and respect at every stage of life, a concept that includes abortion but extends far beyond it as well.
In this context, it is a mistake to view abortion as somehow distinct from the dehumanization and abuse of migrants. The holistic pro-life view doesn’t just ask, “Is a baby being harmed?” It asks, “Are people being harmed?”
