Post-Roe Restorative Justice The field of peace studies has long recognized a distinction between “retributive” justice and “restorative” justice. Retributive is the one most commonly used in court systems; it involves finding guilt and then figuring out the most appropriate punishment. Restorative justice, on the other hand, seeks to heal the trauma and set things right. The restorative approach better fits the ideals of peace.
