‘House of Dynamite’: Watch and Take Action

A new movie, House of Dynamite, dramatizing the danger of nuclear war, will be released on Netflix today, Friday, October 24. The movie provides a good opportunity to reflect on the nuclear threat and discuss it with others. The Back from the Brink Campaign provides resources for anyone who wants to host a screening and discussion. The movie should also motivate people to work for peace: see these pages from Back from the Brink and the Arms Control Association for activities to pursue.
Peace Vigil on November 2
Our quarterly peace vigil to protest nuclear weapons is on Sunday, November 2, from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. We’ll gather on the roadway outside the White House in Washington, DC. The vigil will also serve as the capstone event for the Rehumanize International conference that weekend. For questions, contact John Whitehead jwwhiteh@yahoo.com.
Planned Parenthood Closings – Know How to Get the Updated List
Add recently two more in Colorado, and the Bixby center in Los Angeles. Manhattan in New York says it’s closing on November 1.
This shows that the list of 44 closings for 2025 that’s been making the rounds in pro-life circles is already outdated. PP has claimed up to 200 of its centers (more than a third) are endangered due to Medicaid defunding; that’s probably exaggerated for political effect, but there may well be more closings coming.

Our Grassroots Defunding project website, though mainly focused on finding nonviolent alternatives to PP for people needing medical care, also maintains a page of closings. It’s constantly updated. If you need that, or know of anyone who might need that, please be sure to send them the link:
The closings are listed starting in March 2020, when Covid was causing so many to be temporarily closed.
PP sometimes announces closings, but it’s quite common for a center to simply disappear from its listings with no fanfare. If you’re aware of any closings that don’t show up on our list, please let us know at grassrootsdefunding.org@consistent-life.org
Israel/Palestine
Those who practice mass murder have now negotiated among themselves to mainly stop the largest part of it for the time being.
This means we have the absurd situation that the area’s governance is being decided by those who approve and take part in mass murder.
In the short term, this is good. It’s the people who are doing the mass killing who need to stop. Persuading them to stop is crucial – or rather, getting them to do it a little rather than a lot, which seems to be the best we can do for now.
In the long term, in a world more ideal than current politicians have in mind, governance ought to be decided by people who don’t advocate mass murder. Such advocacy should be disqualifying for being in on decisions of how to govern.
It will still take a while for many people to realize this, but we need to keep working at it.

Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty
E-mail, October 13, 2025
[Missouri] Governor Kehoe just denied Clemency for Lance Shockley. Do not forget this when you vote. Do not forget this when a politician says they are Pro-Life. Do not forget this when he walks up to take his Holy Communion in a few days. Governor Kehoe has blood on his hands.
