Breaking News: The Killing of Renee Nicole Good
One thing that binds all our issues together is the danger to people protesting the violence. Those accustomed to committing violence, such as ICE agents, by having a violence-saturated understanding, may spread that violence from the initial targets to protesters and use similar justifications. But there is no valid justification for any of the violence.

War in Venezuela & War on Christmas & War on Hanukah
The MAGA movement in the U.S. doesn’t participate in the peace movement, but many of them say they strongly oppose wars that involve nation-building and have a good potential for being “forever wars.” While we oppose all wars, at least that MAGA belief can reduce how many wars happen.
Donald Trump strongly asserted during his presidential campaign he would put an end to such practices. Many people voted for him believing that.
Recent events in Venezuela show he didn’t mean it. Those who thought they were voting for that principle have been betrayed.
This is his pattern, as we pointed out in Trump Sabotaging the Pro-Life Movement.

Meanwhile, we had an actual war on Christmas in 2025. A war strike in northern Nigeria was done deliberately on Christmas Day.
It’s not that it would be a moral improvement to kill people and frighten nearby children on a different day instead. But for people who complain about a metaphorical “war on Christmas,” it’s astonishing if they aren’t angered by an actual war as a greater dishonoring of the day.
There was also a war-style mass shooting on Hanukah in 2025. Rachel MacNair added comments about this to her post, Reflections on Hanukkah.

I know Donald Trump says things, and who knows what he means and what he doesn’t, but words do actually still matter. And he ended by talking about a population of people as “garbage.” No human being is garbage . . . once you start determining that about classes and populations, where does it end? And it can’t start. If we don’t value life, we don’t value anything.
