Protecting Pregnant Women in Immigration Custody

The Consistent Life Network has joined with over 30 pro-life and consistent-life organizations in an urgent appeal spearheaded by our member group Rehumanize International:

We encourage you to read the whole thing, but here’s the main point:

Medical advocacy groups and investigative reporting have documented prolonged detention of women with high-risk pregnancies, delayed emergency treatment, miscarriages, and stillbirths. Simply stated, unborn children are dying because of this policy. These outcomes are not anomalies. They are the result of placing pregnant women in systems designed for incarceration, not medical care.

Rest in Peace, Jesse Jackson

Jesse Jackson

Best known for his effective work against racism, Rev. Jackson also opposed the death penalty and stood by the family of Terri Schiavo during her court-ordered dehydration death. Though Democratic Party politics later caused a reversal, his 1977 article against abortion, quoted below, is among the most eloquent.

He died at the age of 84 on February 17, 2026.

Planned Parenthood in the Epstein Files

To access the on-line files, go to justice.gov/epstein, check that you’re not a robot and that you’re 18 or over, and then you can put a search term in for the millions of pages.

“Planned Parenthood” brings up 56 hits, most of which are dull discussions of news items. However, one would expect cases where there are times that visits to Planned Parenthood should have led to reporting for underage girls, as required by law, and we find two of them. Failure to report allows the abuse to continue. (See under Sexual Abuse at Problems at Planned Parenthood’s lists for several lawsuits on this).

The word “abortion” gets 275 hits.

February 15: Susan B. Anthony’s Birthday

Rachel MacNair speaking to group in historic building

The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum in Adams, Massachusetts has an annual event for her birthday. Rachel MacNair expounded on Susan B. Anthony’s activism being informed by her Quaker roots. It was covered in the local paper, but unfortunately, behind a paywall. The speech itself was videoed and is expected to be on YouTube eventually.

Both the museum and the speech mention how Anthony opposed all forms of violence, including quite a bit of her paper’s coverage on opposing “antenatal child murder.”

The “thought experiment” of getting into a time machine and going back to kill Adolf Hitler as a baby, on the idea that this would save millions of lives, has been commented on enough to have its own Wikipedia entry. Rachel MacNair looks at different angles from the consistent life perspective in Baby Hitler.

In another of our reflections from different viewpoints about the legality of abortion, Jacqueline Abernathy offers Problems with the Demand-Side Pro-Life Arguments for Making Abortion Unwanted but Not Illegal.

Quote of the Week

Jesse Jackson

National Right to Life News, January, 1977.

The question of “life” is The Question of the 20th century. Race and poverty are dimensions of the life question, but discussions about abortion have brought the issue into focus in a much sharper way. How we will respect and understand the nature of life itself is the over-riding moral issue, not of the Black race, but of the human race. . . . I was born out of wedlock (and against the advice that my mother received from her doctor) and therefore abortion is a personal issue for me.
